India is fast emerging as young nation, with immensely talented and energetic youth. Every other day, we read on the demographic dividend India shall reap in the forthcoming years. Thanks to the youth.
But are our politicians ready to harvest the fresh, golden crop?
There seems to be a chasm of ideology when we look at whom we call as our young leaders ( may be someone in early 40’s or in a modest late 30’s ) and whom we call as our youngsters ( a college going student?). It indicates that the politicians find the young blood too juvenile to take up correct political decisions and represent them at a higher platform. With nothing substantial to offer to the youth, clearly makes a reason as to why our leaders fail to attract the youngsters to active politics.
Most of our leaders are too experienced to understand the modern mumbo-jumbos of social networking and high speed information transfer. At the same time, the youth do not find these politicians doing much for them.
The oath of not getting married by Rahul Gandhi, does not seem to be a very lucrative proposal to get into the hearts of youngsters. For these youth, the MNCs provide a respite, acting as their ladder to a better organized infrastructure and fast paced world.
Moreover, with more and more youngsters at the voting base, only a party which would be able to entice the youth with their progress, would be able thrive.
Hence, a call for higher youth leadership and a youth-targeted propaganda is the need of the hour. Will the old haggards transfer the weight of power to the young shoulders?
