DIGVIJAYA UNDER ATTACK BOTH BY BJP AND CONGRESS LETTER TO STATE MINISTERS SEEN AS INTERFERENCE

In a rare coincidence former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh is being attacked both by his party colleague and also by the BJP and Bajrang Dal. Umang Singar, a member of the Kamal Nath cabinet has accused Digvijaya Singh of interfering in the functioning of the government. In a signed statement Umang particularly referred to the letter which Digvijay has sent to all the Ministers.

In his letter Digvijaya has asked the Ministers to inform him about some important matters which he referred to them during the last six months. Matters also included request for transfer of officers. Digvijaya has also sought time to meet ministers to know the status of works recommended by him. Describing letters as direct interference in the working of the Government, Umang said that Digvijaya was running the government from behind the curtain and the fact is known to everybody including Congress workers. The minister has said on record what others of his ilk hesitated to say till now.

“Does he need to write letter to get his work done” said Singar responding to media queries on letter that Digvijaya had sent to ministers recently.  BJP leaders have launched fierce attack on Digvijaya describing him as spokesman of Pakistan. It may be mentioned here that Digvijaya Singh has accused BJP and Bajrang Dal of taking money from Pakistan’s ISI.  The Congress leader was touring Gwalior and Bhind. On Saturday, during a conversation with the press he alleged “Bajrang Dal and BJP are taking money from the ISI. Attention should be paid to this. Non-Muslims are spying for Pakistan’s ISI more than Muslims”.

On Sunday however, Singh said some TV channels were showing ‘totally wrong’ news and that his statement was on Bajrang Dal and not on BJP. By then, the controversy was already raging and BJP vice-president Shivraj Singh Chouhan had accused Digvijaya and Congress of ‘speaking the language of Pakistan’.  In his first tweet on Sunday Digvijaya said “Some channels are showing that I have charged BJP of receiving funds from ISI for spying for Pakistan. This is completely wrong”.

A couple of minutes later, he followed it up with “MP Police have caught office-bearers of BJP’s IT cell and Bajrang Dal spying for Pakistan in lieu of money received from ISI. I had levelled this allegation and I stand by it. Why don’t reporters of news channels raise this question with the BJP”. BJP shot back by saying that Digvijaya has lost credibility by intentionally giving controversial statements.

“Digvijaya Singh is used to making controversial remarks so that he remains in the headlines but his comments do not matter. The country does not take him seriously as he and his party are speaking the language of Pakistan” former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, adding “The Sangh Parivar and the BJP do not need a certificate of patriotism from anyone. What ISI says, Digvijaya says – he even calls Osama (terrorist Osama bin Laden) ‘Osamaji’.

BJP state President Rakesh Singh said, “There is no need to react to Digvijaya’s comments as he has lost all credibility. Today people have expressed their confidence in the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They better understand what the party stands for”.

Leader of Opposition Gopal Bhargava said “It’s shameful that Digvijaya Singh has lost his mental cool. People, who favour Pakistan, speak same language as Digvijaya Singh. If he is so fond of Pakistan he should better move to Pakistan and live there” said Bhargava.

The Bajrang Dal has taken strong objection to Digvijaya’s remarks and warned of legal action. “We have decided to lodge a police complaint against Digvijaya Singh for his baseless statements and will move court. The Congress should expel him from the party or else Congress will be wiped out of the country”, said Bajrang Dal national convener Sohan Solanki.

On the other hand, supporters of Jyotiradity Scindia have intensified their campaign to appoint their leader as the President of MP Congress. Those who are in forefront of the campaign also include Ministers Tulsi Silawat, Imarti Devi, Pradhuman Singh, Prabhuram Choudhari, Mahendra Singh Mahendra Singh Sisodia. Besides ministers may MLAs are also expressing their support for Scindia. In an equally important development eight district Congress committees have also passed resolution backing Scindia for the post of PCC Chief.

In an important move minister Dr. Govind Singh met Scindia. Govind Singh is a well known Digvijaya Singh loyalist. There is general impression that Digvijaya Singh is opposed to Scindia getting top organisational post.
