The plan was revived during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s NDA government. But, this is the first time that it has been brought to the implementation stage. The place of confluence of the two rivers near Ibrahimpatnam would be developed as a tourism place.Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reached Pattiseema at 9.30 am by helicopter from Vijayawada. Sharp at 09.45 am, he switched on the first pump of the PLIS and releaseed water to the Pattiseema Right Main Canal (PRMC).
Later, the Chief Minister flew to Ibrahimpatnam where he unveiled the pylon of Krishna-Godavari confluence there and participated in a public meeting. PLIS Superintending Engineer V S Ramesh Babu informed JUST IN PRINT that the pipeline delivery system to PRMC was completed which will be linked to the project in night.
Meanwhile, Collector A Babu inspected the arrangements at the venue where Naidu addressed the public meeting. Over 2,200 buses were arranged for farmers to attend the meeting from all the districts. More than one lakh farmers attended the meeting, said Babu.
The Collector said that officials of Krishna and West Godavari worked hard on the project by completing the PRMC works at different places. Earlier the Collector released Godavari water from the PRMC at Nainavaram and Jakkampudi villages at 164 km.The Godavari water was released to the Budameru diversion channel from the Velagaleru
